AMAN’S PIANO STUDIO

Thanks for your interest in music lessons! I offer my experience as a performing pianist, active collaborator, composer, and student of music, to help shape your learning path and artistry.

Based in Bangalore, I am an internationally active pianist, composer and teacher with two decades of professional experience in the areas of world music, jazz, and contemporary improvised music. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2007, and have since been a returning faculty member at the Global Music Institute (India).

Teaching has been a rewarding aspect of my career, allowing me to contribute to India’s music scene at a roots level. Most of my students are intermediate/professional musicians, seeking to expand their musical horizons through a deeper understanding of harmony, rhythm, improvisation, and global musical influences.

The focus will be on expression through creative, interactive music, for which we’ll explore fundamentals along with contemporary/jazz repertoire.

Format

  • Classes are 55 mins each – in person preferred, but also online.

  • Along with repertoire, we’ll focus on specific study topics each week.

  • After each lesson, you’ll receive a summary of class topics and assignments due.

  • Please be prepared for a good amount of independent work: practice, recordings, and online research/explorations.

Fees

  • ₹9,000 for a four-lesson package
(monthly schedule, due beginning of the month)

Scheduling

  • I usually teach on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

  • Our schedule for the month will be made available to you on google calendar.

  • If you need to reschedule, please contact me more than 48 hours in advance, so another student can be given your slot. I might not be able to reschedule with shorter notice.

  • If I have to reschedule, I will notify you well in advance.

Application

To apply, write to amanspianostudio@gmail.com outlining your journey, some links to your music, and your goals with these lessons.
